Verworfen

"Verworfen" are dismissed drawings and sketches that didn't make it into the picture book. Sometimes, I was really sad about it! Like the chicken and pig situation I invented. I thought it was REALLY fun. After a discussion with my fellow students and my professor, I would still think it's REALLY fun but I saw that it didn't fit into the story any more.
Some of the drawings I made were just sketches to find a way how to set up the story. (Very quickly-drawn storyboards.)

My favourite research pictures!

One of the first drawings of Ziki. I started spelling her
name without K after a while.

Sketch for the Ziki pattern I made for the endpaper design.

One of the few sketches in which I added a bit of colour. I was a bit sad to say goodbye to this idea.

One of the very early sketches which I actually quite like.
I wanted to try drawing with a small brush.

This is basically how I proceed with my drawings most of the time.
After having made many sketches and character designs, I make a
more detailed sketch which is usually finished with pen and ink.

The final drawing of the farm which Ziki finds after
having been kind of homeless.

One of the "coloured" drawings which would be printed with
the Risograph. I only used greyscale tones in the beginning.
This is necessary for the Risograph itself.
