BUT! I feel so satisfied being home again. Friends and family are just the best. You always think you know about that. Sometimes it's so good to really feel how much you miss them, though.
I will post the first bits of my sketches and drawings that I made during the journey through Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. I filled around two sketchbooks and did some sketching on loose paper when I realized there were no sketchbooks available anywhere in Laos.
Sitting somewhere, trying to bring the situation to paper was a real treat. Also, I figured it was way more effective than writing in a diary. I prefer to look at a drawing when having returned. For me, it's such an intense memory that I can immediately recall the feelings, conversations, or tastes of the place that I drew.
I miss the warm, moist air with its exciting smells and sounds and noises.
Lady, you need Tuktuk?
"How could you not stop and say Hi to my Bubu! She's always distracting me from work."
"You put the raw egg into your soup bowl. Either you wait until it's kinda cooked or you just eat it in its wobbly state."
"Back home I never eat bananas. I thought I didn't like them – until I tried the small ones that grow here."
"Travelling around half the globe just to look grumpy somewhere else."
"It's not just protecting from the mosquitoes, you know. I met this guy who's got half a cockroach stuck in his ear. He went to the hospital and everything but they just couldn't get it out completely."
"Same same but... just exactly the same."
